PSC held a workshop at Qalqilya's Chamber of Commerce & Industry |
In cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture in Qalqilya, "ASYCUDA" and MOBIS, the Palestinian Shippers' Council held a workshop in the chamber's offices, on 11/12/2006. It was agreed to continue co-operation among both the chamber & the council which will benefit the shippers' interests.

Workshop and a field visit to the MAMAN |
In corporation with the Peres Center, & the Israeli Export & International Co-operation Institute; the Palestinian Shippers' Council held a workshop on import & export procedures through the Israeli borders on the 6th & 7th of December 2006 in Tel Aviv. 27 importers & exporters had participated; including 20 participants from West Bank and 7 from Gaza strip. Several subjects concerning shippers were discussed including export and custom procedures. In addition, a field visit was held to MAMAN - Cargo Terminals & Handling at Bengorian Airport. The visit highlighted the Export & Import process "from A to Z" - from receipt of cargo at the Maman Depo, through storage, preparation for flight and required documents.

PSC and Businessmen Association held a workshop in regards of import and export problems |
In cooperation with the Businessmen Association and "ASYCUDA", the Palestinian Shippers' Council held a workshop at the Association's offices in Ramallah, on 14/11/2006. Participants were welcomed by Mr. Mohammad Masrouji, Chairman of the Association, and Mrs. Maha Abu Shusheh, PSC's Chairwomen. The workshop highlighted the council's objectives, achievements, future activities & membership; in addition to the problems & obstacles of imports and exports. The workshop also included presentations on the Palestinian automated customs system, and on INCOTERMs 2000. Certificates of attendance were distributed at the end of the workshop.

Palestine participates in the UNCTAD Expert Group Meeting on Information Technology and Communication related to trade facilitation on border crossings |
A Palestinian delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of MoNE, Dr. Jawad Naji, participated in the United Nations conference on Trade and development. The participants of the delegation included: Misyef Misyef - General Manager of ASYCUDA, Hani Kort- Prep committee member, and from the UNCTAD: Majdi Khalil-General Manager of PSC, Yousef Shaath-Regional manger of PSC in Gaza; in addition to Mahmoud Sulaiman- UNCTAD's coordinator.
With the presence of more than sixty countries, the Palestinian delegation presented two work papers on how to use Information Technology and Communication in accordance with the International Communication Systems to facilitate trade in Palestine. Mr. Majdi concentrated in his presentation on the progress accomplished in this field in Palestine and on the role that the council plays in supporting the Palestinian Trade sector
In addition, and in co-ordination with the European Shippers' Council in Brussels and the Swiss Shippers' Council, the Palestinian Shippers' Council conducted several tour visits to the ports in order to benefit and exchange experiences with the Europeans.

PSC held a small workshop at Bethlehem and Gaza's Chamber of Commerce & Industry |
In cooperation with both the Chambers of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture and "ASYCUDA" in Gaza & Bethlehem separately; the Palestinian Shippers' Council held a small workshop in chambers' offices, on Thursday, 14/9/2006. The workshops highlighted the council's establishment, its objectives, achievements & membership; in addition to the problems & obstacles that the Palestinian importers and exporters are facing. The Chambers' General Managers thanked the council for all its constructive efforts. Certificates of attendance were distributed at the end of the workshop.

PSC held a small workshop at Tulkarem's Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture |
In cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture in Tulkarm and "ASYCUDA", the Palestinian Shippers' Council held a small workshop in chamber's offices, on 30/8/2006. The workshop highlighted the council's establishment, its objectives, achievements & membership; in addition to the problems & obstacles that the Palestinian importers and exporters are facing. The Chamber's president emphasized on the importance of continuing co-operation among both the chamber & the council which will benefit the shippers' interests. Certificates of attendance were distributed at the end of the workshop.

PSC held a small workshop at Hebron's Chamber of Commerce & Industry |
In corporation with the Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Hebron and "ASYCUDA", the Palestinian Shippers' Council held a small workshop in Hebron's chamber, on 27/8/2006, in regards of the council, its objectives, achievements & membership; in addition to the problems & obstacles that the Palestinian importers and exporters face during the import & export procedures; where 18 members had participated from the chamber. At the end of the workshop, certificates were distributed among participants.

Workshop on Import and Export Procedures |
In corporation with the Peres Centre, & the Israeli Export & International Co-operation Institute, the Palestinian shippers' Council held a workshop about the import & export procedures through the Israeli borders on the 28th & 29th of June 2006 in Tel Aviv, where 18 importers & exporters had participated. Several subjects concerning shippers were discussed including: Intercom 2000, import, export and custom procedures. In addition, two filed visits were held to Emco marine Ltd. & overseas which are located near Ashdod port.

First Palestinian Shippers' Council Workshop: Mission & Organization |
The Palestinain Shippers' Council has been launched on the 11th of April 2006, in cooperation with UNCTAD and Paltrade. The following objectives have been fulfilled by the UNCTAD experts and various other Palestinian speakers:
| 1. | Introduce the UNCTAD/EC project to assist in the establishment of PSC; |
| 2. | Introduce the purpose and organization of a Shippers' Council |
| 3. | Identify the basic training needs of PSC |
| 4. | Establish a tentative Plan of Action, including a training programme |
The workshop took place at Grand Park Hotel - Ramallah and via videoconference with Roots Club - Gaza.
The workshop had addressed the following issues:
| 1. | Trade and transport relations between shippers and transport operators. |
| 2. | Trade and transport relations with governmental agencies. |
| 3. | Shippers' Council: Institutional arrangements. |
| 4. | The Way Forward: Plan of Action (PoA) for the Project. |

PSC and UNCTAD experts visit to Nablus Chamber of Commerce |
PSC with UNCTAD experts in coordination with Paltrade and Nablus Chamber of Commerce held a workshop on April 9th 2006 at the chamber to discuss the problems facing importers/Exporters at Israeli ports and other crossing points.
Issues discussed included: Inland transport, crossing into Israel, ports - represented by Ashdod, Haifa and Airport, border Crossing - (customs), shipping and freight forwarding services.
Thanks for the great help and support from Paltrade and the chamber of commerce; the visit was successfully held.

PSC with UNCTAD experts in coordination with Paltrade and Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce held a small workshop on April 8th 2006 at the chamber to discuss with concerned importers/Exporters the problems and issues that they are facing either with Israeli ports or at the various crossing points.
Several issues were discussed including: Inland transport, crossing into Israel, ports - represented by Ashdod, Haifa and Airport, border Crossing - (customs), shipping and freight forwarding services.

Visit to Haifa Port |
Representatives of the Palestinian and Israeli business communities commenced discussions in early 2004 under the auspices of the Peres Center for Peace. In this context, a visit to Haifa port was conducted on the 20th of December 2005. The visit was arranged in corporation with Peres Center & Paltrade. Various businessmen related directly to import & export have joined. During this visit a Workshop on Supply Chains covered the following topics:
- Custom Clearance Procedures.
- Reform in the Israeli ports, future plans and forecasts.

Import/Export Permits and Standards Checks.
